Technical Director Duties – Construction Site
Support to the contract managers in solving technical issues
Make sure monthly production targets are reached
Make sure the safety on site is properly organized and efficient
Supervision and checking of the orders and subcontract offers against budget but also in terms of quality
Technical Director Duties – Head Office / Strategic
To supervise project planning and execution
To monitor and progressively improve the expected profit margin for the company
Be responsible for the logistical organization of the company
Be responsible for the technical organization of the head office (mechanical department, concrete and blocs production department, transport department, plant (dispatch to the various sites), quarry department, stock department)
Provide advice and leadership on plant & equipment procurement/purchase
Manage and train the technical team (head office and site based)
Take an active part in the business development function to win new work & clients in the Kigali & Rwanda region
Active participation in the search for cost savings relating to operational overheads & implement solutions to improve company productivity
Supervision of the tender department (quotations) & work closely with the engineer in charge of tenders & pre-contract operations, offering advice & guidance & approving all tenders before submission.
Supervision of new property development projects from study stage (cost, architectural, environmental etc) to the execution & completion on site.
Construction Technical Director – Previous Experience Required
Civil engineering / construction engineering experience in the building or civil engineering construction industry (civil works, buildings, or property development)
Demonstrable management skills in a similar environment
Possessing good references that can be checked
Fluent in English, French is a plus
Able to demonstrate how they could grow the business & look for new opportunities
Experience as an expatriate is essential

An international construction contractor and property developer with a head office in Europe, employing over 1,000 staff.
They have been working in Rwanda for over 10 years, and are active in the building construction of hotels, hospital, banks, offices buildings and renovation. We are also active in property developments.
This role is becoming available as a result of the retirement of a long term member of staff, hence the availability of a new recruit to commence during November/December 2009 is desired to facilitate a full handover.
The working week is 8am to around 7pm, from Monday to Saturday (shorter working usual on Saturday).

Basic salary according to experience & caliber but up to c £100,000
